Cross Country Teams Place At Cassville

Led by a fourth-place finish by David Lazalde and a sixth-place by Alex Guadarrama, the McDonald County High School boys cross country team took third place at the Cassville Invitational Cross Country Championships held Oct. 5 at Cassville High School.

Lazalde finished the 5000 meter (3.1 mile) course in a time of 17.22 while Guadarrama was five seconds back at 17:27.

Jackson Behm was third for the Mustangs, 18th place overall, in 18:29, followed by Bryce Berryhill, 22nd, 18:44; Tyler Moritz, 25th, 18:55; and, Elijah Habert, 39th, 19:42.

Kolin Overstreet led Lamar to the team championship by winning

the individual title in a time of 16:21. East Newton was second in the team standings followed by McDonald County, Cassville, Monett, Wheaton, School of the Ozarks, Seneca, Purdy, McAuley Catholic and Exeter.

Girls Sophomore Addy Mick led the Lady Mustangs with a third place finish in a time of 20:56. Brooklyn Winters was second for the Lady Mustangs, 15th overall, in a time of 23:29 followed by Natalie Staib, 19th, 23:46; Andrea Creason, 41st, 26:32; Istarlin Aden, 54th, 28:49; and Tyler Walker, 59th, 30:09.

Cassville won the girls’ team championship while McDonald County took fourth.

McDonald County returns to Cassville on Oct. 12 for the Big 8 Conference Cross Country Championships.
