HSTCC To Host Public Hearing For Community Trail Plan

JANE — The village of Jane will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the White Rock Fire Department, 3129 Rains Road, in Jane.

The public is invited to join the village of Jane as it discusses the community trail plan presented by Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and the Harry S. Truman Coordinating Council. Staff from both the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and HSTCC will be on hand to explain the planning process and answer questions.

The long-range planning process is to develop trails in the McDonald County area that may one day connect to the Razorback Regional Greenway in Bella Vista, Ark. The Greenway extends 36 miles from Fayetteville to Bella Vista, linking communities, parks, schools, residential and retail developments and other significant points of interest.

Currently, the Greenway ends at Lake Bella Vista. The Razorback Greenway Master Plan includes proposed trails to extend to the Missouri State line, at which point they could connect with trails in McDonald County.

The communities of McDonald County have displayed great enthusiasm for the possible development of trails in their region. They recognize the economic, as well as health and environmental benefits, that bicycle and pedestrian trails offer the area.

The Harry S. Truman Coordinating Council is one of 19 regional planning commissions in the State of Missouri. HSTCC represents the counties of Barton, Jasper, Newton and McDonald, and all of the communities within.
