MCHS Student Performs In All-State Choir

FRANKS REPRESENTS COUNTY, SOUTHWEST DISTRICT

- Staff Reports

Scott Franks, son of Christopher Franks and Dorothy Plummer, is a senior at MCHS and had to go through a grueling process to audition for the All-District Honor Choir back in September 2017.

After he made that choir, only juniors and seniors were allowed to go through the All-State audition process. In the All-State audition, the candidates are tested over vocal skills such as melodic sight reading, harmonic sight reading, key signatures, part singing and solo. There are only four individuals chosen in each vocal part (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) in the entire Southwest Missouri District. Last year, Franks was chosen as an alternate bass, to go only if someone in the bass section could not attend.

Through hard work and dedication, he made the All-State cut this year. He represented McDonald County and the Southwest District on Saturday, Jan. 27, as members from all over the state of Missouri came together to perform a concert at Tan-Tar-A resort in Osage Beach, Mo. The choir rehearsed together throughout the day from Monday through Saturday and was required to attend two fourhour rehearsals before it traveled to Tan-Tar-A.

Franks was very excited for the opportunity to sing with Missouri’s best musicians. Franks is also a member of the MCHS Concert Choir and Rhapsody ‘N’ Rhythm Show Choir directed by Stacie Campbell.
