Annual Calf Sale Fundraiser Set For Crowder Aggies

The Crowder College Agriculture Department became the beneficiary of a Red Angus calf which is to be sold at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at the Joplin Regional Stockyards in Joplin.

This is the fifth year the Newton-McDonald County Cattlemen’s Association has joined forces with the Crowder Aggies to sell a calf. One hundred percent of the funds donated are used to provide assistance for Crowder agriculture and veterinary technology students with competitions and career travel opportunities while attending Crowder College.

This year’s calf is a purebred Red Angus donated by Kunkel Farms and Dr. Dale Kunkel of Neosho — a special thanks to the donor. Other community sponsors contributing to the success of the auction include Joplin Regional Stockyards, Animal Clinic of Diamond, Liberty Utilities — Empire District Electric, New Mac Electric, Hunke Spraying, Tatum Motor Company-Mahindra Tractors, B7M Tire, FarmTalk, CornerStone Bank, Haggard Excavation LLC, Fred HarrisState Farm Insurance, Purina, Opal Food and many individuals.

The calf will be auctioned multiple times with the final buyer taking the calf home to show or add to his herd. Donations will be taxdeductible through the Crowder College Foundation.
