John Wilbur Yarbrough, 86, of Neosho, Mo., died Tuesday, April 5, 2018, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 11, 1931, in West Plains, Mo., to Wilbur Thomas and Lucy Rebecca (Woods) Yarbrough. He was raised and attended school in West Plains. He resided in Kansas, McDonald County and Minnesota, and retired from Hudson Foods in Noel, Mo. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and cattle hauling and trading.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first and second wife, Mary Yarbrough and Edna Yarbrough; a daughter, Mary Jo Whitaker; two stepchildren, Jo Ann Brown and Merle Dean Thompson; and four siblings, Henry, Hazel, Dorothy and George.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Sue Cole of Neosho; two stepdaughters, Oleta Kay Tosh (Bill) of Goodman, Mo., and Irma Jewel Hunnicutt (John) of Noel; one grandson; numerous stepgrandchildren; and sister, Betty Romans of Moline, Kan.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Curt Hurley officiating. Burial followed in the Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery.
