Pineville 8th-Graders Visit Capi­tol

On April 5, Pineville El­e­men­tary eighth-grade stu­dents and their teach­ers, Ja­son Frencken, Melissa Suther­land and Jeremy Whit­tle, trav­eled to Jef­fer­son City to visit with Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Bill Lant, and toured sev­eral sites in the cap­i­tal city.

The stu­dents were in­tro­duced on the House Floor by Rep. Lant, where they spent time view­ing the mem­bers’ de­bate from the up­per gallery. Later, the stu­dents and teach­ers toured the his­toric Mis­souri State Pen­i­ten­tiary, fol­lowed by the Supreme Court, where they had an op­por­tu­nity to visit with Judge Brent Pow­ell.

Stu­dents and teach­ers con­cluded their day with a Capi­tol tour that in­cluded the House Cham­ber. Stu­dents and teach­ers en­joyed their full day of ac­tiv­i­ties in the cap­i­tal city.
