The City of Pineville will host the second annual Arbor Day celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 27.
The event, set at the Pineville Community Center, will feature a free tree giveaway, a tree planting at 2:15 p.m., informational booths and free hot dogs and drinks.
The event is sponsored by the city of Pineville, the Missouri Department of Conservation and Liberty Utilities/Empire District.
Pineville was named a 2017 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to urban forest management.
Pineville achieved the recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
The Arbor Day Foundation says trees provide a multiple of benefits when properly planted and maintained. They help improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat.
