Back To Basics Hosts Monthly Meeting
The McDonald County Back to Basics Community Group meeting will be held Thursday, May 10, at the New Mac Community Room located on old Highway 71, north of the high school in Anderson. This meeting will be a potluck, beginning at 6:30 p.m. and meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Mother’s Day Pot Luck
This month has Mother’s Day in it, so bring a dish of Mother’s favorite food. Please bring your own table service (plates, utensils) to conserve resources. Beverages will be furnished.
Entertainment
Back by popular demand — Lee Ann and Jack Sours and The Merry Band of Rakes.
Speaker
Rebecca Hall — Women Veterans — Any idea what it was like to be a woman in the service during WWII and beyond? Many of our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters fought and died in the service of our country. Rebecca Hall, a most interesting person in the county (mother, veteran, educator, artist model, teepee builder and speaker) will tell, in her inimitable style, just what it took to be a servicewoman in wartime!
Home GROAN — Paul Rouse will inform and amaze with his fun and informative segment.
Special
There will be a plant exchange at this meeting. Bring what can be divided from your garden. There will be starts of Red Bud trees, wildflowers including buttercups, wood hyacinth, dwarf-crested iris, celedine poppies, spiderwort, daffodils, bee balm, lemon balm and more.
Please bring a canned or packaged food donation to be given to Crosslines (must be non-expired and non-dented) If everyone brought just one can, there would be 40 or 50 cans to help feed some hungry folks. The drawing for monthly door price will be continued — one entry per food item.
The McDonald County Back to Basics Community Group (B2B) was formed in 2008 as a grassroots effort to combine education, information, community services and a social outlet to support each other in good times and bad. This activity is free and open to all, including surrounding communities. These meetings are held the second Thursday of each month. For more information, call 417-845-0170.
