MCHS Girls Fin­ish Sec­ond At Re­lays

Wins by Cas­sadi Dowd and Cait­lyn Bar­ton led the McDon­ald County High School girls’ track team to a sec­ond-place fin­ish at the Red­bird Re­lays held April 27 at Webb City High School.

Dowd led a 1-2 McDon­ald County fin­ish in the 800 with a win­ning time of 2:31.95. Team­mate Ra­gan Wil­son took sec­ond in a time of 2:35.26.

Bar­ton won the pole vault by clear­ing 9-0. Chloe Teague added a third place in the event with a vault of 8-6.

McDon­ald County picked up a pair of sec­onds in re­lays. In the 4x100, the team of Bar­ton, Erin Cooper, Ruby Palomo and Rita San­til­lan was sec­ond in a time of 54.44. The same four also took third in the 4x200 re­lay with a time of 1:56.68.

The 4x800 re­lay team of Dowd, Wil­son, Adyson Sanny and Addy Mick took sec­ond in a time of 10:40.74.

Jor­dan Witt took sec­ond in the triple jump (31-10) and third in the high jump (5-4).

Palomo added a third in the 100 hur­dles (17.61) and a sixth in the 300 hur­dles (54.67).

Round­ing out the re­sults for the Lady Mus­tangs were San­til­lan, third, 100, 13:81; Mick, fourth, 3200, 13:10.42; Sanny, fifth, 400, 1:08.99; An­drea Crea­son, fifth, 300 hur­dles, 54.66; Jackie Grider, third, shot put, 31-8 and fifth, javelin, 88-6; Emily Landers, sixth, shot put, 29-6.5; and Brit­tanie Serr, fifth, dis­cus, 94-1.

Webb City won the team ti­tle with 200 points, fol­lowed by McDon­ald County with 104, Jo­plin 94, Neosho 75, Col­lege Heights 52, Thomas Jefferson 38 and Spring­field Glendale 14.

Boys

Wins by Pey­ton Bar­ton and Zack Woods led the boys’ team with two

top fin­ishes.

Bar­ton won the dis­cus with a throw of 141-4, while Woods took the pole vault by clear­ing 12-6.

Cole DelosSan­tos placed in four events. He was fifth in the 300 hur­dles (44.37), sixth in the 110 hur­dles (18.39) and ran a leg on two re­lays. The 4x200 re­lay team of DelosSan­tos, Mar­shall Fore­man, Saul Gar­cia and John Howard took fourth (1:41.71), while the 4x400 team of DelosSan­tos, Cale Adam­son, Drew Landers and Howard was fifth (3:46.32).

Corbin Jones and Michael Wil­liams placed in three events.

Jones was sec­ond in the 200 (24.07). The sopho­more was also fourth in the 100 (11.46) and ran a leg on the 4x100 re­lay that took fourth (46.62). Oth­ers on the re­lay were Fore­man, Gar­cia and Eh Doh Say.

Wil­liams was sec­ond in the triple jump (40-0.25), fifth in the high jump (5-6) and fifth in the long jump (19-7).

Round­ing out the boys’ re­sults were Alex Guadar­rama, sixth, 1600, 4:56.27; David Lazalde, sixth, 3200, 10:45.84; Eli­jah Habert, Gar­rett Spears, Guadar­rama and Howard, third, 4x800, 8:40.63; Bucky Har­rell, fifth, triple jump, 38-4.5; Huechi Xiong, fourth, pole vault, 12-6; and El­liott Wolfe, sec­ond, shot put, 46-11 and fifth, dis­cus, 121-1.

Webb City made it a sweep by win­ning the boys’ cham­pi­onship with 188.5 points. Jo­plin was sec­ond with 175, fol­lowed by Neosho with 90.5, McDon­ald County 81, Spring­field Glendale 27, Col­lege Heights 15 and Thomas Jefferson 11.

Monett

Jones and Guadar­rama picked up wins to lead the McDon­ald County boys’ team to sec­ond place at the Monett Re­lays held April 24 at Monett High School.

Jones won the 100 in a time of 11.1, while Guadar­rama won the 3200 with a time of 10:48.3.

Jones also took third in the 200 (23.35) and triple jump (39-0), while Guadar­rama was sec­ond in the 1600 (5:04.4).

Round­ing out the in­di­vid­ual re­sults for McDon­ald County were Joel Mor­ris, fourth, 300 hur­dles, 44.64 and sixth, 110 hur­dles, 18.4; Howard, third, 400, 53.6; DelosSan­tos, sec­ond, 300 hur­dles, 44.64; Landers, third, 800, 2:14.7; Wil­liams, fifth, high jump, 5-6 and fifth, triple jump, 38-1.5; and Wolfe, sec­ond, shot put, 43-10 and third, dis­cus, 121-9.

Monett won the team ti­tle with 138 points, with McDon­ald County in sec­ond with 121 points. Third place went to Pierce City with 83.5, fol­lowed by Cassville 64, Aurora 43.25, Ne­vada 41.75, Mount Ver­non 32.5, Col­lege Heights 27, Miller 14, Ever­ton 12, Seneca 4 and Hol­lis­ter 1.

Girls

Dowd led the Lady Mus­tangs by win­ning the 800 in a time of 2:34.8. The se­nior added a fifth place in the 1600 in a time of 5:55.0.

Bar­ton took sec­ond in the pole vault (8-6), while Teague added a fourth (8-0).

Round­ing out McDon­ald County’s in­di­vid­ual re­sults were Palomo, third, 300 hur­dles, 52.78 and fifth, 100 hur­dles, 17.3; Serr, sixth, dis­cus, 85-4; and Witt, third, triple jump, 31-7.5 and fourth, long jump, 14-10.75.

Monett won the girls’ team cham­pi­onship with 158 points, fol­lowed by Col­lege Heights with 75, Mount Ver­non 68, Ne­vada and Cassville 58, McDon­ald County 53, Pierce city 38, Seneca 27, Miller 14, Aurora 12 and Hol­lis­ter 8.

McDon­ald County’s next meet is the Big 8 Con­fer­ence Track and Field Cham­pi­onships at MCHS on May 3.
