Goodman Aldermen Vote To Condemn Property

Aldermen, at the May 15 regular city council meeting in Goodman, voted to take steps against the Shauna Landess’ property, agreeing to bid out the demolition of the property. Bid notices have been placed in the McDonald County Press and Neosho Daily News. Those notices will be published for several weeks until the June 19 council meeting.

Aldermen also agreed to give two property owners a chance to clean up and make inroads before the July 17 city council meeting.

Mayor Greg Richmond acknowledged Misael and Marcos Bustamante’s need of two more months to clean up. The property, located at 128 N. Wall St., will be cleaned up and renovated before the July 17 deadline.

The board also agreed to extend the time for Kevin Miller to clean his yard and do more work in the house, as well. His property is located at 204 N. Wall St.

In other business, the board:

• Approved on its second reading, Ordinance No. 2018-497, and Ordinance No. 2018-498.

• Approved the extension contract for residential and commercial waste collection between the city of Goodman and HTS (formerly Henson Trash Service).

• Agreed to place the 1996 Ford out for bid again in the McDonald County Press and the Neosho Daily News until June 6 at 4 p.m. Aldermen also will advertise a topper from the 2009 GMC in the Neosho Daily News and the McDonald County Press.

• Approved paying bills in the amount of $41,186.24, including transfers.
