Joe H. Pogue, 92, of Anderson, Mo., and Alton, Ill., died at United Methodist Village in Godfrey, Ill., on Feb. 4,
2018.
He was born Aug. 28,
1925, in
Joplin, Mo., to Arthur
Terrel and Bertha May Pogue who raised him in the Anderson area. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1943. On Feb. 18, 1949, he married June Marie Halbrook. After the death of June, he married Dorothy Lyon in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve, sold real estate and insurance and farmed. He actively attended the First Baptist Church of Anderson and then First Presbyterian Church in Alton.
Survivors include his four children, Larry Pogue (Suzon), Joey Pogue (companion, Linda), John Henry Pogue (Paulette), and Mary Jane Montagut (Fabian); and five grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. Private family graveside services will be held at the Anderson Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to Crowder College Foundation, Anderson First Baptist Church or the First Presbyterian Church in Alton.
