Adults will have an opportunity to express themselves during an evening of rock painting at one of the McDonald County Library branches.
Instructor Melissa McKinney will lead participants in painting rocks in a class set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at the Southwest City branch, or at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at the Pineville branch.
Library director Amy Wallain said adult class coordinator Tammy Taylor set up the two events, based on the summer reading program’s theme, “Libraries Rock.”
“We’re having some fun giving it a twist,” Wallain said. The program is free. Grants for the summer reading program help provide the funding, she added.
“We try to offer adult classes at least once a month,” Wallain said. “It’s a chance for them to get out of the house and have some fun.”
Participants are asked to register by calling the Southwest City branch at (417) 762-7323 or the Pineville branch at (417) 223-4489 .
Library officials are playing off the summer reading program theme for children’s activities as well. On July 10, youngsters will have the opportunity to visit the Bluff Dwellers Cave. “They’ll be going inside a rock,” Wallain said.
Registration is required for the free trip.
All the summer reading program events will conclude at the end of July, but Wallain said fall will bring a fresh offering of activities.
