2018.
She was born on
April 24,
1946, in Chetopa, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and
Treva Smith Channel.
She graduated from Franklin Technical Institute and worked as an LPN in several nursing homes. She was married to Jerry Purdy. To this union, two children, Rob and Vonda, were born. She later married Kenny Rookstool. Together they had a son, Frankie. Orlena loved playing with her grandchildren, gardening and canning.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herb and Tom Robert; and a sister, Mary.
Orlena is survived by two sons, Robert Purdy and wife Susan and Frankie Rookstool and wife Rhonda; a daughter, Vonda Geeding and husband Pete; two brothers, Charles and David; five sisters, Loraine, Elsie, Beverly, Myrna and Stella; 12 grandchildren, Bryan, Matthew, Shaunntai, Jerry, Kyle, Deauzia, Adara, Kelsey, Heather, Brooke, Kendall and Ryland; and 11 great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily, Adrionna, Cooper, Dayton, Lisa, Bronx, Jaxon, Elliona, Daimon and Daison.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in Curry Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel.
The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
