May 24, 1934 Sept. 3, 2018 Thomas Joseph O’Brien Jr., 84, of Pineville, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

He was born May 24, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Thomas Joseph and Jane (Pryor) O’Brien. He was raised in Fort Worth and was a graduate of Paschal High School. He worked in the beauty and barber supply business most of his life while he took on other business ventures in Texas as well, Seabrook Texas Queen Party Boats, a shipping and box store and then a Texas-Style barbecue business which he continued after moving to Pineville. He married Marilyn O’Brien on Feb. 25, 1977. He was a member of Anderson United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Jane Haynie, Frances Butler and Dorothy Williams; and stepson, Patrick McClay.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marilyn; seven children, Thomas J. O’Brien III (Courtney), John O’Brien (Dee), Michael O’Brien (Carolyn), Arden Riley (Tom), Patricia O’Brien, Leslie Dawkins (Randy), and Michelle Bowers (Fred); and 13 grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at the Pineville United Methodist Church with Pastors Mark Kailbourn, Doris Schlessman and Nick VanDam officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday morning at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to Solace House of the Ozarks in care of the funeral home.
