James (Jim) Hock

Oct. 21, 1930 Aug. 22, 2018 James (Jim) Hock, 87 years, of Jane, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the Circle of Life in Bentonvill­e, Arkansas, with his loving family by his side.

Jim was born in Oilla, Texas, and was the oldest of eight children born to the late James Hock Sr. and Wilrey Granger. On December 14, 1952, in Baker, he was united in marriage to Beverly Fairchild and to this union three daughters were born. Throughout Jim’s life, he was a hard worker, devoted to God and country and to his loving family. Jim grew up in the southeaste­rn part of Texas and was stationed in El Paso during his time in the Army. Jim and Beverly lived in Louisiana until August of 1969 when they left Louisiana and moved to Jane, Missouri.

Jim was a Korean War Veteran proudly serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Army and honorably discharged in August of 1952. Jim was a farmer, a small-business owner, and a plant operator for Uniroyal in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in his younger years but mostly Jim was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior. Jim never missed a moment to witness to anyone that would listen about his love for God. Jim had one message to spread the word about Jesus; that Jesus Christ came, he died on a cross, he rose again, and to receive him by faith as Lord and Savior is to have everlastin­g life.

Jim is survived by two of his daughters, Terri Smith and husband Danny of Jane, Missouri; Jamie Harvey Johns of Jane; several grandchild­ren, Rebecca Smith Caldwell and husband Butch, Keith Smith and wife Amelia, Jason Collins and wife Tricia, Lee Ross, Nathan Harvey, Katelyn Beverlee Johns; great-grandchild­ren, Mason Wesley Collins, Parker Collins, Kevin Shunn, Kaiden Gardner, Hunter James Smith, Cassie K. Ross, Harley J. Collins, Zander Collins; and a greatgreat-grandchild, Willow K. Thompson; and a host of other family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Karen Potter; two grandsons, Shane Collins and James Chad Harvey; and son-in-law, Brad Johns.

A celebratio­n of Jim’s life was held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 2938 Rains Road, Jane, Missouri, with Pastor Hank Gorman officiatin­g. Interment was at the Jane Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearer­s: Lee Ross, Keith Smith, Hunter James Smith, Nathan Harvey, Jason Collins, Mason Wesley Collins, Edwayne Fairchild and Butch Caldwell. Visitation with the family was held at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas, on August 24, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m.
