Exercise before Thanksgiving dinner! Dinner will be more rewarding once you have participated in Southwest City’s 10th annual Turkey Trot walk/5K run on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22. The race begins at 8 a.m., rain or shine, at the Anne Croxdale Memorial Library on North Main Street.

Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to join in the 3.1-mile loop. Dogs on leashes are welcome. From the library, the Turkey Trot travels down Main Street, past the seasonal decorations and creative hay bales, onto Frye Road then winds through the country before returning to the library. Organizers hope for a beautiful fall morning and even more trotters. Participants are sure to enjoy the scenic route and beautiful fall foliage.

Proceeds will be divided between the Anne Croxdale Memorial Library and the SWC Arts Center, both in Southwest City.

Registration is $15 for adults and $10 for people younger than 18. Preregister by Nov. 7 to receive a T-shirt. Entry forms can be found at the library and at Cornerstone Bank in Southwest City or the SWC Arts Center website: www.swcartscenter. org. An option to donate to the event is also available on the website.

An adult knitting class is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Anne Croxdale Memorial Library. Beginner knitters will learn how to cast on, knit stitch and purl stitch while creating a warm, knit headwrap for wintry weather.

To start the holiday season, the Arts Center is holding a Christmas Sing-in at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6. A variety of cheerful Christmas music will be performed by local talent with backup vocals and participation from the audience.
