Noel Women’s Club Meeting

-

The Noel Women’s Club meeting was held Tuesday, May 14, at the Noel Methodist Church. It was a very informative meeting for everyone, including two guests — Kimberly Ramsay with Edward Jones and Debbie Parnell with I’m Your Huckleberry Animal Rescue.

It was a busy night as we celebrated the scholarship awards for the McDonald County High School seniors. Linda Jefferson was there to present our scholarships to Hailie Lance and Bailey Barrett. Congratulations, girls. We know that your futures hold a lot of potential.

Our meeting opened with another celebration for our bake sale held in April. We raised $379. The weather was beautiful as we sat outside the Noel Harps grocery store that Saturday morning. We greeted people with enthusiasm and they were very encouraged to buy the homebaked goodies provided by our club members. We also had a raffle for a lovely quilt that was donated to our club in support of what we do in the community. The raffle raised $101 and was won by Betty Whited. Congratulations, Betty!

A yearly project for the Noel Women’s Club is raising money for the Noel Cemetery located on H Highway, just north of town. Did you know that the Noel Women’s Club has been responsible for maintaining the cemetery since the beginning, which was 1948? They sponsored the building of the pavilion, raising the funds with public donations, and they work the entire weekend of Memorial Day, accepting donations to continue this tradition. The cemetery is kept mowed throughout the year and the Women’s Club pays approximately $300 each mowing (eight to 10 times a year). So please, when you drive by the Noel Cemetery this holiday weekend, remember to pull in the driveway, go up to the little green pavilion, and donate a little bit of money to continue its pristine appearance. We thank you in advance for that.

The ladies rounded out the night with a silent auction. Everyone attending the meeting brought a small plant or two, maybe another plant related item, then arranged them for bidding. An additional $32 was raised that night and everyone enjoyed the food provided afterward.

Ladies, please join us at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Noel Methodist Church. We will have our regular meeting and enjoy a potluck meal together.

Again, please mark your calendars to make your donations to the Noel Cemetery fund this Memorial Day Weekend.
