Noel Women’s Club

-

The August 2019 meeting of the Noel Woman’s Club was called to order by President Melissa Lance. We recited the pledge of allegiance and the Lord’s Prayer. Roll call was taken, with 11 members in attendance. The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given by Bonnie Leonard.

In old business, Bonnie reported that she had contacted someone to do the repairs needed at the Noel Cemetery shelter. We hope to move forward with that as soon as possible.

The Noel Betterment Association is hosting an event from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, to commemorate the 50th year anniversary of the train explosion in Noel in August of 1969. It will be held on the grassy area next to Arvest where the First Friday events occur. There will be commemorative coins and T-shirts available to buy, as well as other booths and food trucks.

Our birthdays celebrated this month were those of Gladys, Faye and Jo.

There were no committee reports or new business. Next month, we will set a date for the Fall Bake Sale. Our program was a silent book auction. Members brought books that were auctioned off, with the proceeds going to our treasury. Hostess for this month was Lisa Reese. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches, chips and Reese’s candy.

Our speaker next month will be Rhonda Jones demonstrating cake decorating. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. Our hostess will be Hannah. Everyone is invited to join to work towards making Noel a better place to live. All proceeds from fundraisers go toward the community. Call President Melissa Lance for more information at 417-475-3599.
