Who Is On The Lord’s Side Among You?

- By Joyce Walters OPINIONS EXPRESSED ARE THOSE OF THE AUTHOR.

There was a request for Brother Bob to sing “I’m Too Close to Heaven to Turn Around.” Is this you or are you slipping back into a place where you are not living for God? Are you asking, Lord how long will this torment go on? Or what is the purpose of the changes that we see taking place? It’s hard not to. Pastor is going to explain how the time we are living in is just the signs of the times spoken of in the word of God.

In the book of Psalms Chapter 14, Verse 1, we read, “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” Verse 2: “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. He asked is there none that doeth good?” Verse 3 says, “They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

I am so sad to say where are the believers? Why are the churches almost empty, because people are turning to the things of the world and losing out with God. Our kids are so used to the phone life of texting and Facebook that they never even talk to their parents. Oh well, the parents are bowing their heads and looking at their own phones, so would they even notice if the kids did have something to say. I do not want to offend anyone but look around and see what I am saying. We have lost a generation to social media. How sad is that?

Acts 4:12 speaks about the fact that there is only one way to obtain salvation and that is to accept Jesus as your savior. He shed his blood on the cruel cross so we can be forgiven from the sinful life we have lived. Many are lost because they do not seek the answer to a life without spot or wrinkle. Many times we try to work out problems our way; what happens? We just get into deeper trouble. Our ways are not God’s ways, holding to the things of this life will surely end in your destruction.

Read Matthew 6:19-20 and you will realize where your treasure should lie. We are told to, “lay not up treasures upon this earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But instead, lay up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” So if we plan to find that mansion Jesus went to prepare for those that love him, we better get our Bible open and begin to find the things that will lead us to right living.

There are so many who say, I don’t have to go to church to be a Christian. Well, I will not judge you but I will tell you that in Hebrews 10:23-25 there are instructions concerning going to church, in verse 25 it plainly says not to, “forsake the assembling of yourselves together so you can be encouraged and exhort one another.” You will just have to work that part out for yourselves.

Pastor again took us to II Corinthians 10:3-5 where we find the word speaking of accepting Christ as our savior and how we must walk in the newness of life. If there is no change in our lives, we have not found that love which comes only through Jesus being the center of our lives. If you are among the righteous who walk uprightly before God, you will have a desire to be in God’s house and among His people. It will not seem like a chore to go to church. It will actually be a privilege that you look forward to.

Proverbs 3:5-7 tells you to trust in the Lord with all your heart and to lean not unto your own understanding. In all ways, we are to acknowledge him and he shall direct our path. We are not to be wise in our own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Where do you plan to spend eternity? Now is the day of salvation and, with all you see coming upon us, why would you not realize Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light, and no man cometh to God except through Christ. I am so afraid that people are just going along with the changes and they do not realize we are giving up our freedom more every day. God is the answer and only with him will you gain victory.

Pastor Bob Cartwright has been preaching to the church and praying that there will be an outreach to those who are lost. If you want to hear the word as it reveals the days we are living in, we invite you to come worship with us at the Cove in Lanagan, Mo., on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Also, we have a very informative Bible study at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Come and be blessed. We would love to have you.
