Mertie Mae (Perry) Harmon, 93 of Noel, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 20,
2021, at Ashley Health and Rehab in
Rogers, Ark.
She was born to Claude H. and Elsie Zeona (Harmon) Perry on July 31, 1927, in Noel. She married Forrest Marshall Harmon on June 20, 1947. She attended the Mill Creek Baptist Church in Noel. She attended Noel school reunions, always carrying her 1945 yearbook and knew almost everyone there. She enjoyed watching wild critters, especially racoons, opossums and birds. She appreciated art, classical music and traveling. She served on the Noel City Council, and was a shareholder and served on the Noel Water Company board of directors. After selling the Harmon Hardware business in 1980, she worked as a teller at the State Bank of Noel, from which she retired in 1989.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest (Jan. 3, 1965 ); her parents; her siblings, Daisy B. (Perry) Manning, Kenneth H. Perry, Ted Perry; and her longtime companion, George H. McGhee.
Survivors are her daughter, Anna M. Harmon and partner Joyce E. Short of Noel; two sisters, Ruth J. Briggs of Noel, Tess Ann Sugarman of Elk City, Okla.; and sister-inlaw, Ernie Perry of Williamsburg, Va.
Private family interment will be in the Noel Cemetery in Noel.
