Historical Society Scholarshi­p Offer

The McDonald County Historical Society is offering a $1,000 scholarshi­p, and interested applicants may access the applicatio­n by visiting https:// mcdonaldco­untyhistor­y. org/events. The deadline for submitting scholarshi­p applicatio­ns is April 18. Applicatio­n forms are also available at McDonald County High School.

Stella Senior Center

The Stella Senior Center has a dinner and a dance every Friday night. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., with a potluck buffet-style meal at 6 p.m. The dance begins at 7 p.m. This week, Timberline Country will begin playing at 7 p.m. The cover charge is $5, and refreshmen­ts are always available.

McDonald County Senior Center Noel

Business hours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a lunch hour from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Louine Gardner, who heads up the Blessings Cupboard Food Pantry, opens the food pantry from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the senior center. It is open to all who need food. The center is located at 624 Johnson Drive in Noel.

Goodman Spring Citywide Yard Sale and Spring City

Cleanup

Goodman board members set dates for the upcoming spring yard sale and cleanup days for the year. The spring citywide yard sale will be held from Friday, April 12, through Sunday, April 14.

Residents can then discard their trash during the spring city cleanup, on the following weekend, from Friday, April 19, to Sunday, April 21. There will be dumpsters at city hall for citizens to dump anything that they need to throw away.

Springfiel­d Friends

of the Library

Find the perfect book to read at the lake this summer or in the air conditioni­ng on a hot day. The sale features new and used hardback and paperback books, CDs, movies, vinyl records, audiobooks, games, and puzzles — and now, artwork. Adult, young adult and children’s books and most audiovisua­ls are $1 or less; better books are priced $2 and up.

The sale is Wednesday, April 24, through Sunday, April 28, at the E-Plex, Ozark Empire Fairground­s, 3001 N. Grant Avenue in Springfiel­d.

Hours are Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Half-Price Day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, Bag Day, 1 to 5 p.m., when everything you can jam in a sack is only $1, or $5 from better books. The Friends accept cash or check only, and parking is free.

Garage Sale

The city of Bella Vista’s annual citywide garage sale is set for the last weekend in April — starting at 8 a.m. each day, Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27.

Perfect Harmony Women’s

Barbershop Chorus

In celebratio­n of 25 years, Perfect Harmony Women’s Barbershop Chorus will be in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. Directed by Karen Frankenfel­d, the barbershop chorus has been supporting the community with live, harmonized entertainm­ent since 1999. A celebrator­y reception will follow the event.
