“Dark Shadows” (Decades, weeknights):

This Gothic soap opera that aired weekdays on ABC from 1966 to 1971 followed the daily lives of the wealthy Collins family of Collinspor­t, Maine, where ghosts, werewolves, zombies, witches, warlocks and other supernatur­al beings and events were commonplac­e. One was one of their own, Barnabas Collins, a vampire played masterfull­y by Canadian actor Jonathan Frid, who would years later have a cameo in Tim Burton’s 2012 feature film of the same title.

“American Horror Story” (Netflix):

The first eight seasons of creator Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series are available on the streamer, with storylines encompassi­ng an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show circus, a haunted hotel and a house with a murderous past. The cast for this award-winning show is first-rate, including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lady Gaga, Kathy Bates, Adina Porter, Angela Bassett and Cuba Gooding Jr.

“The Twilight Zone” (MeTV, weeknights):

Rod Serling was the creative force behind this ground-breaking anthology series that aired on CBS from 1959 to 1964 and featured tales of people dealing with disturbing or unusual events with a plot twist and a moral presented at the end of each vignette. Filmed in black and white, its cast featured a mix of establishe­d stars and young actors, among them Anne Francis, William Shatner,

Inger Stevens, Burgess Meredith, Jack Klugman and Lee Marvin. It still remains the standard bearer of its genre.
