8 PM 7 Cosmos: Possible Worlds Previously aired on cable, this critically acclaimed science series hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, inspired by a previous program originated by Carl Sagan, makes its two-hour broadcast premiere with “Ladder to the Stars; Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors.” Viewers can expect to take a trip to what producers call a 100,000-year-old laboratory, where they’ll begin an adventure spanning billions of years into the evolution of life. Also: an exploration into humanity’s potential for change and the story of one of history’s greatest monsters and his virtuous transformation.
8 PM G Dead Pixels In the season finale, “Hive-Mother,” Meg, Nicky, Usman and Russell (Alexa Davies, Will Merrick, Sargon Yelda, David Mumeni) are closing in on the endgame of Kingdom Scrolls, so they decide to make a full-blown weekend of it by cosplaying this final level. As these gamers reach the end of their virtual fantasy journey, however, each of their lives outside the game likewise comes to a crossroads. Charlotte Ritchie also stars.
8 PM ( LIFE) Supernanny Professional nanny Jo Frost finds herself dealing with an unusually poignant appointment in the new episode “Sutherland Family,” wherein she meets mom Amy Sutherland, who understandably was left profoundly shaken by an accident that nearly killed her daughter. Now Amy steadfastly refuses to accept anyone’s help when it comes to raising her four kids with hubby Justin. All of the children are under the age of 4, and both Amy and Justin are stressed out trying to personally manage a separate schedule for each child.
9 PM 2 Frontline Filmmaker Michael
Kirk presents interwoven investigative biographies of both major-party candidates as Americans prepare to decide who will lead the nation for the next four years in the two-hour special “The Choice 2020: Trump vs. Biden.”
Kirk and his team have made four prior installments of “The Choice,” which has been an election year PBS staple since 1988, as well as nearly 20 documentaries about the Trump and Obama eras. The special incorporates interviews from those with close knowledge of Donald J. Trump and Joseph R. Biden.
9 PM ( LIFE) Chicago E.R. This new one-hour special episode, which also is a pilot for a prospective series, takes viewers inside the white-knuckle professional lives of nurses in a Chicago medical facility. Despite the relentless stress of duties that literally carry life or death consequences in many cases, these tireless and gallant workers manage to keep their spirits undimmed as they transform Roseland, a once-failing hospital, into a beacon of hope for their community. 9PM( TLC) Counting On Season 11 draws to a close with a finale called “A Quarantine Courtship,” which finds the Duggars adjusting to a new normal during the pandemic. Jana and the younger girls make masks for the whole family, then make the rounds to deliver them. Meanwhile, John David tackles responsibility for baking an intricate cake for Abbie’s birthday, and the family shows up for a surprise (and socially distanced) celebration. Elsewhere, Jinger and Jeremy take over a family video chat to share some happy news.
10 PM ( BRV) Backyard Envy High-end designers and landscapers James DeSantis, Garrett Magee and Melissa Brasier and their Manscapers associates take on one of the most logistically challenging jobs of their careers at a remote location on picturesque Fire Island in a Season 2 finale called “Where Do We Grow From Here?”

Viewers are promised an inside look at the diverse assortment of personalities comprising the 2020 list, ahead of the familiar Time print edition of this highly anticipated lineup on Friday, Sept. 25. Last year’s list included climate activist Greta Thunberg, South Korean boy band BTS, former First Lady Michelle Obama and U.S. Attorney General William Barr.
