WEDNESDAY’S BEST PICKS

-

8 PM ( ESP2) MLB Baseball With the playoffs firmly in their crosshairs, Paul Goldschmidt and the St. Louis Cardinals hope to improve their chances with a victory over their cross-state rivals in Jorge Soler and the Kansas City Royals. Though they have a record around .500, that shouldn’t keep the Cardinals from a postseason berth, given MLB’s 16-team format. As for the Royals, it’s wait until next year as they’re sitting at the bottom of the American League Central standings.

8 PM ( DIY) Restored In a new episode called “Revival Style,” host Brett Waterman takes viewers along as he explores the unique history and beauty of revival-style architecture. During this engrossing hour, he revisits a beautiful 1928 Spanish Revival home and an impressive 1917 Mission Revival home, each built by prominent local architects.

9 PM & America’s Got Talent Season 15 of this hit reality competition series really had to think outside the box last spring when the coronavirus pandemic shut down live, in-person auditions for the competition to follow. Then, with the season in progress, executive producer and longtime judge Simon Cowell suffered a freak accident that left him sidelined with a serious back injury. For once, here’s hoping tonight’s season finale, which will crown the new “‘AGT” million-dollar champion, won’t feel pressured to deliver even more surprises. Terry Crews is the host.

9 PM G Coroner In the Season 1 finale, “Bridges,” a death hits close to home for the team, and as Jenny (Serinda Swan) and her colleagues painstakingly unravel the case, they uncover evidence pointing to something much bigger than they expected. Elsewhere, Ross (Ehren Kassam) embarks on a personal journey, while Liam (Éric Bruneau) reveals his true feelings to Jenny. Jenny, meanwhile, sees her past and present collide, revealing truths she wasn’t ready to confront. Tamara Podemski also stars.

9 PM ( FOOD) Guy’s Grocery Games Host Guy Fieri makes no secret of his Italian heritage and he has quite a bit of pasta knowledge in his noodle, so he brings in four pasta-savvy chefs for a new episode called “Nothin’ but Noodles.” You can bet before the episode is over, things are bound to get pretty saucy, but only one talented chef will use their noodle with their noodles to earn a shot at $20,000. Eddie Jackson, Christian Petroni and Damaris Phillips are the judges.

9 PM ( HBO) Agents of Chaos Oscar- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (“Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief”) directed this two-part documentary, which concludes Thursday night. The product of Gibney’s years of reporting on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, the film — which includes unprecedented footage inside Russian troll farms — digs deep to reveal sophisticated foreign plans to undermine democracy. More alarmingly, it also proves that these “agents of chaos” included key players in the United States who furthered Vladimir Putin’s goals.

9:01 PM _ I Can See Your Voice One of the panelists on “The Masked Singer,” Ken Jeong is executive producer and host of this quirky new music guessing game that was filmed this summer under quarantine. Actress Cheryl Hines and TV host Adrienne Bailon-Houghton join Jeong and a rotating panel of guest celebrity detectives plus a music superstar to help a contestant try to find the best singers among a group of strangers without hearing them sing a note. Instead, clues, interrogation and lip-synch challenges must point the way to weed out the bad voices.

10 PM ( CNBC) Jay Leno’s Garage In the quirky new episode “America’s Toughest: In Harm’s Way,” host Jay Leno explores the various reasons people may put themselves and their vehicles in harm’s way. He gets first-hand perspective on that impulse by hanging out with people who like danger just for the thrill, like Travis Pastrana and famous stunt driver Debbie Evans.

10:03 PM ( LIFE) Marrying Millions Bill makes a determined effort to adjust when Sharon, Bri’s mother, moves into the house, but things quickly deteriorate in the new episode “Rough Waters Ahead.” The resulting tension leaves

Bri feeling torn between Bill and her family. Elsewhere, Desiry is devastated when Rodney reveals a huge secret he has been keeping from her, while Erica’s family doesn’t react well to news of her engagement to Rick. Meanwhile, Donovan warms to the idea of proposing to Dani.
