8 PM $ Love Island Matthew Hoffman, this show’s delightfully snarky narrator, set up Season 2 as “love, lust and a disinfected rooftop,” which commendably owned the biggest challenge faced by the “Love Island” producers: How do you deliver a sexy show about coupling in the middle of a deadly pandemic where kissing is a high-risk activity? Ratings have been down compared to Season 1, suggesting viewers may be split on how well Season 2 has dealt with this heightened degree of difficulty.

8 PM 6 Weakest Link Jane Lynch (“Hollywood Game Night”) hosts this reboot of a British game show that aired previously on this network from 2001-02, hosted by tart British TV personality Anne Robinson. In each episode, eight contestants work as a team to answer general-knowledge questions, with the value of each consecutive correct answer increasing exponentially. If a player gives a wrong answer, though, the money awarded drops back to the lowest amount. At the end of each round, the team votes to eject the player they see as their “weakest link.”
8 PM ( TRAV) The Dead Files In the new episode “Battle for Control,” former homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi and medium Amy Allan answer a distress call in Toledo, Ohio, where they uncover a horrific battle between good and evil in an unhappy and stressed-out household. Then, another segment finds the pair in Michigan, where they investigate chilling reports of a faceless shadow entity terrorizing a family.
9PM 2 42 PBS NewsHour Debates
2020 Chris Wallace of Fox News moderates the first of three debates between President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, from the Health Education Campus (HEC) Samson Pavilion at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Veteran journalist Judy Woodruff anchors PBS coverage of the two-hour event, which also is scheduled to be covered by the major commercial networks and cable news outlets.
9 PM 39 Tell Me a Story As Hannah (Dania Ramirez) tries to free Gabe (Davi Santos), she takes the fight to Katrina (guest star Becki Newton), culminating in a showdown in the season finale “Chapter 10: Forgiveness.” Kayla (Danielle Campbell) severs contact with her father (Sam Jaeger) and the police as she tries to save Colleen (Kim Cattrall), all too aware that the thoroughly unhinged Nick (Billy Magnussen) is capable of doing just about anything. Elsewhere, Jordan (James Wolk) reaches the end of his rope with Sam (Dorian Crossmond Missick).
9 PM ( TLC) Little People, Big World Season 21 opens on the end of an era, as Amy prepares to bid farewell to Roloff Farms for good, but while she’s moving off the property, she still co-owns part of it with Matt, who is eager to settle that legal issue in the season premiere, “To Sell or Not to Sell.” Meanwhile, Tori and Zach are experiencing the joys and challenges of parenthood with baby Lilah and Jackson. This season also will address how the pandemic affects the world of the Roloffs.
10:02 PM ( TLC) Sweet Home Sextuplets The Waldrop family returns for Season 4 and, since apparently the challenges of parenting sextuplets are too easy, they currently are extensively renovating their house, forcing a temporary relocation to a mobile home, in the season premiere “Mobile Home for the Holidays.” Meanwhile, outside their temporary living space, their Alabama town is slammed by one crisis after another, ranging from violent storms to the weird new world of the COVID-19 pandemic.
