9 PM $ Essential Heroes: A Momento Latino Event Eva Longoria is producer and host of this new onehour celebration of Latinx culture in America, with Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin acting as co-hosts. In doing so, the film reveals both common experience that binds people together as well as generational differences that can set Americans at odds with one another. The three main participants in the film are Arwyn H., 15, a high school sophomore in Austin, Texas; Kat P., a 51-year-old Philadelphia woman furloughed from her job; and Marna C., a California senior finally discovering her creative voice.

11 PM ^ Independent Lens National media often focus exclusively on top-of-the-ticket political races in major cities, but in fact, local elections

— especially those in smaller communities — often accurately mirror or even predict the ebb and flow of the large-scale American landscape. Hillary Bachelder’s new documentary “Represent” follows three women running for office in the heart of the Midwest during the run-up to the 2018 midterm elections, an endeavor that finds them confronting entrenched local political networks.
