“A Looney Tunes Christmas” (Amazon): The rascally rabbit and his pals tell their own condensed version of “A Christmas Carol” in this special from 1979. There’s none better to play Scrooge than Yosemite Sam! Other shorts include Wile E. Coyote attempting his usual antics and repeated use of ACME products to catch Road Runner, and Bugs reading “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” for his nephew. “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good bite ... I mean night!”

“A Flintstone Christmas” (HBO Max): In this 1977 film, when Fred’s boss asks him to play Santa for underprivileged children on Christmas Eve, Fred recruits his buddy Barney to plan a grand entrance. En route to the event, the duo stumbles upon the “real” Saint Nick, who has sprained his ankle and caught a cold. The friends then jump into action to finish delivering presents around the world while still trying to arrive at the party on time.

“ALF: Alf ’s Christmas Special” (Amazon): Originally airing as a two-part episode of the main series in Season 2 (1987), the alien jokester best-known for his one-liners took a much more serious tone as he grapples with earthly holiday traditions. Here, he finds himself stopping a suicidal Santa, helping a woman give birth in an elevator and, based on a true story, visiting a dying girl named Tiffany during her last days in the hospital.

“Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” (AMC, Friday, Dec. 18):

Whatever happened to helping little old ladies across the street ... or through the woods? Inspired by Randy Brooks’ 1977 humorous holiday song, the 2000 animated special – also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year – follows Jake Spankenheimer as he embarks on a journey to find his missing grandmother and prove that Santa Claus is real. Maybe Santa should really back off a lilttle on the eggnog while driving.
