Michael Kenny

Boca Raton, Florida - Michael Richard Kenny, 73, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away after battling lung cancer December 30th, surrounded by family. Born on Long Island, he attended Lido Elementary and then Coindre Hall boarding school in Huntington, NY. His family moved to Miami, and Michael graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in 1965. He attended St. Petersburg College and proudly served his country as an MP in the Florida Army National Guard.

He will be sorely missed by his son from his marriage to Bambi Blackwell of Miami Shores, Richard Kenny (Susan) of Atlanta, his brother David Kenny (Dolores) of Mystic and Darien, CT, his brother-in-law David Arnold (Joanne) of Cooper City, FL, his nephews David Kenny Jr. (Lindsey) of Hingham, MA, Drew Kenny (Stephanie) of East Lyme, CT, and Ben Arnold (Kristin) of Weston, FL, and his nieces Danajean Kenny Stewart (Seth) of Charlestow­n, MA and Pam Sevcik (Ryan) of Davie, FL.

Michael was predecease­d by his parents, Joseph Kenny of NY and Doris-May Soffer Kenny of Naples, and his beloved wife of 36 years, Kay Arnold Kenny.

Michael spent many years in the “rag” business as a textile salesperso­n in Miami. He worked for various companies including Cranston Printworks, RI and Marcus Bros. NYC. His wife Kay, a Pratt Institute alumnus, was a prominent fashion designer, and initially his customer. Michael and Kay lived a full life in Coconut Grove, hosting their popular annual tree trimming block party, enjoying art, and traveling. They lived in Jacksonvil­le for a short time before settling in Boca Raton in 2005.

The Gardens of Boca Raton is assisting with arrangemen­ts. A memorial service will be announced post-pandemic.
