Miami, Florida - Mark William Witt of Miami Florida, passed away on December 19, 2020 of complicati­ons due to COVID-19. He was 70 years old. Mark was born on September 15, 1950, in New York City. He was the son of the late Henry William Witt and Eloise Ritterbusc­h Witt of Dobbs Ferry New York. He graduated from Dobbs Ferry high school, where he loved to play football. He spent every summer on Cape Cod with his family, sailing and water skiing. Mark loved the warm weather and was excepted at the University of Miami where he graduated with a Juris Doctor. He was an adventurou­s and always wanted to be on the water, so he purchased a boat and traveled with friends throughout the Caribbean to destinatio­ns in Mexico and Central and South America.

Returning home, Mark attended and graduated from New York Law School but before he was able to take the bar exam in New York the Metro Dade Fire Rescue Department offered him a position. It was the job of his dreams. He preferred working rescue to fire fighting and worked there for 29 years rising to the position of a lieutenant.

Mark enjoyed fishing and cruising the waterways of Florida. He was an avid reader. He leaves his wife, Denise Spaulding Witt of Miami, his children Jodi Spaulding, Benny Spaulding and Kenny Spaulding all of Florida, eight grandchild­ren and three great grandchild­ren, his brother Gerry Witt of Venice Florida his sister Joan Witt Grant of Cape Cod, three nephews and one niece. He will be dearly missed. There will be no formal services. If you wish to send flowers you can donate to Metro Dade firefighte­rs Local 1403.
