Miami, Florida - Barbara Fischer Shapiro was born in New York City on January 20, 1929 to her adoring parents Morris and Lottie.

She was the light of their lives, and continued to shine in the presence of anyone who got to know her. She will continue to be loved by all upon her peaceful passing on October 21, 2021.

In the summer of 1944, Barbara Fischer met Norman Shapiro in the Catskill Mountains. All it took was one glance, and the rest was history. She was in her bobby socks, swooning over Frank Sinatra when Norman strode in, and the two were instantly smitten. Their life together was a beautiful love story that lasted 67 years with many amazing adventures. They enjoyed a wonderful life together, cherishing their time both with each other and their two amazing daughters Gail, Marcia, Granddaugh­ter Lauren and family.

Barbara started

married life with Norman in Westbury, New York and then the family moved to Miami in 1957. Barbara was a pioneer in the real estate business and one of the first in Miami to sell condominiu­ms and she specialize­d in this niche thereafter. Barbara was a powerhouse of a woman and has left a huge imprint in the world with her generosity of spirit and beautiful loving heart.

Barbara’s commitment with Norman to charity work was one of their greatest passions. They supported many charitable organizati­ons in the community. Barbara loved her involvemen­t with friends of these organizati­ons above all The Love and Hope Ball Committee of the Diabetes Research Institute.

Barbara is pre-deceased by Norman and Gail. Barbara lives on in the hearts of her beloved daughter Marcia, adored granddaugh­ter Lauren and her husband Jonathan, cherished great-grandchild­ren Molly, Ben and Abby, and her niece Judi.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday October 24, 2021 at Levitt Weinstein Blasberg Rubin Zilbert at 11:30 a.m. 18840 West Dixie Highway, N. Miami Beach, FL, 33180. Surfside, Florida - Anne Sullivan McDougal of Surfside, Florida passed away on October 15, 2021. She was raised in New York City and Allenhurst, New Jersey. Anne was editor-in-chief and fashion editor of several well-known magazines in New York City and a former mayor of Indian Creek. She won several tournament­s in golf and tennis, and swam twenty laps everyday of her adult life. Anne is survived by her sister, Sandy Sleavin Trapp, of Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, nephews, Richard and Michael Sleavin, of Plano, Texas, stepson, Edward Sullivan, of Howell, New Jersey, nephews, JC Giordano, of Bedminster, New Jersey and Michael Giordano, of New York City. She was predecease­d by her husband, Robert “Bud” McDougal III. A funeral mass will be held on October 30th at noon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on 8670 Byron Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33141.
