Aventura, Florida - Our father, Petros Bacogiannis, age 78 of Aventura, Florida, passed away in his home after a long and heroic battle with cancer, on February 22,2022, surrounded by family.

He is survived by two cherished sons, Alexander Bacogiannis and Michael Bacogiannis of Hollywood, Florida; beloved daughter Christina White (husband T. Roger White, Jr.) of Miami Shores; and 4 adoring grandchildren (Alessandra, Tommy, Tyler, and Jules). He is now united with his parents, a thought he expressed in his final days.

Our father was born and raised in Varda, Greece, and moved to New York at the age of 21, not knowing a word of English, in search of the American Dream. He became a US citizen in 1982, a fact he was extremely proud of. He later lived between New Jersey and Florida as time and weather permitted, and eventually retired to Aventura full time to be with his family, where he lived until his passing.

Our father was one of a kind. He was from the old school. The kind of family guy who would give the shirt off his back to those he cared for. He lived for his family and loved us unconditionally. He taught us about inner strength, and to live honestly and with integrity. He was the strongest man we’ve ever known. He lived life on his own terms, made no apologies, loved all things New York (especially the Yankees), was a wonderful cook, and most of all, a proud Greek.

We are tremendously heartbroken by the physical loss of our father and we will miss the life lessons he found in everything. But he will forever live on in our hearts and memories. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life.
