Catherine Mansfield January 2, 1950 - February 22, 2022

Homestead, Florida Catherine (Cathy) Blanchard Mansfield, born January 2, 1950, passed away way too soon on February 22, 2022. One of God’s true angels on earth, she has been called home to heaven. Apparently, the Lord needed an angel to teach, protect and comfort the other angels, as she did her entire life with her family and friends on earth. He couldn’t have chosen a more loving, caring and compassionate angel for the job! Cathy was born at the United States Naval Hospital in Chelsea, Massachusetts, but moved to Miami shortly thereafter, as her Father was in the Navy and got stationed in Key West, Florida. Shortly after graduating Coral Park High School in Miami, Cathy met, fell in love with and married the luckiest man on earth, Michael (Mike) Mansfield. They were married for 43 years but together for 50 years. Cathy proudly served the United States Government faithfully as a Maintenance Technician with the United States Postal Service at their Miami main facility. She retired after 37 years of faithful service. This is one of the many things that made her family very proud. Cathy loved the company of family and friends. She loved to play bingo with her friends (many of whom she considered family). But her greatest love was attending Miami Dolphin games with her husband and two sons. She loved being able to spend time with her friends (family) at the games, especially the tailgates. Many knew her as “Dolphin’s Mom”. Those who know Cathy know her as a strong and fiercely loyal Wife, Mother and Friend. She was especially protective of her two sons, Matthew (Matt) and Joseph (Joey). She was the Mother Bear always protecting her two cubs, no matter their ages. Her husband, Mike, knew that no matter what troubles or obstacles they would encounter on their journey through life, he had the perfect mate who would always be there with counsel, comfort, kisses and hugs. Sometimes just a hug from Cathy let Mike know everything would be okay. Everyone who met Cathy was blessed. Her blazing and brilliant green (Hazel) eyes were warm, comforting and supportive, but she was equally built of the toughest stuff. She was the most caring, compassionate and giving person who ALWAYS placed others’ needs before her own. At the moment she passed away, the earth shed a tear but the heavens became even brighter. She is truly loved and will be missed by all who has the honor and pleasure of knowing her.

Cathy is survived by her husband Mike, her two sons Matt (Jennifer) and Joey (Melinda), brother Steve (Judy), sisters Kim (Chris) and Fran (Keith), grandchildren Tristan, Tyler and Brianna, and numerous inlaws, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins. All of whom were dearly loved. A celebration of life will be held privately at a future date by Cathy’s immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the donors’ favorite charity.
