SUNDAY’S BEST PICKS
7PM G (TBS) 27th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards From the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, Taye Diggs and Nicole Byer host this annual awards show honoring the best in primetime television during 2021. Among the field of nominees, HBO leads with 20 nominations, closely trailed by Netflix with 18. As for individual series, two HBO dramas, “Succession” and “Mare of Easttown,” scored 8 and 5 nods, respectively; “Evil,” a Paramount Plus streaming series, also earned five nominations.
8PM $ The Equalizer In the new episode “Somewhere Over the Hudson,” Robyn (Queen Latifah) helps a desperate mob accountant recover a lost ledger. It’s a vital piece of evidence he has to turn over to the FBI in exchange for safe entry into the Witness Protection Program. Meanwhile, Mel (Liza Lapira) tries to figure out a way to tell her best friend — who selflessly provided emotional support to Mel in the wake of Harry’s (Adam Goldberg) “death” — that his demise was a fabrication all along.
8PM (HALL) When Calls the Heart Hope Valley elects a new mayor, while Lucas and Elizabeth (Chris McNally, Erin Krakow) try to find special “little moments” to cherish in their relationship in the new episode “Out Like a Lamb.” Elizabeth also offers to help Nathan (Kevin McGarry) with his traumatized horse, Newton, after the hitand-run incident, but it’s Mei (Amanda Wong) who is able to connect with the animal. Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith and Andrea Brooks also star.
9PM $ NCIS: Los Angeles In the new episode “All the Little Things,” after a newborn child is found abandoned on a Navy ship, Kensi and Deeks (Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen) launch a desperate search to find her mother somewhere on board the vessel before the infant dies of medical complications. Elsewhere, operational psychologist Nate Getz (recurring guest star Peter Cambor) meets with Admiral Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) and learns about the CIA project from the 1970s and ’80s involving children. Bar Paly, Jeff Kober and Olesya Rulin also guest star.
9PM(CNN) MOVIE Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain This new feature-length documentary from Oscar winner Morgan Neville (“Twenty Feet From Stardom”) offers an affectionate remembrance of cultural explorer, writer and chef Anthony Bourdain, who died in 2018. Bourdain burst onto the scene with his wildly successful 2000 memoir “Kitchen Confidential,” which vividly captured his experiences in the restaurant trade. From there, he swiftly transformed from gifted line chef to globe-trotting explorer and beloved TV host. Bourdain’s insatiable hunger to understand the world in all its diversity was infectious, radically changing food and travel television. 10 PM & Transplant In the new episode “Jasmine,” Bash’s (Hamza Haq) reunion with Rania (Nora Guerch) is bittersweet at best, igniting some painful memories. Meanwhile, Mags’ tendency to always go the second mile unfortunately draws unwanted attention from Novak (Gord Rand), the new boss.
