Here’s a list of the some arts and cultural attractions in Miami and Miami Beach for locals and tourists alike that are free or offer special days with no admission charge:

DESIGN DISTRICT’S MODERN ART AND SCULPTURES

The Design District was redesigned in the early 2000s filled to the brim with public art. Take a stroll through the swanky neighborhood’s walkways and plazas to see more than a dozen works of art ranging from murals to a sleek-designed swing set.

NEW WORLD CENTER AND SOUNDSCAPE PARK

Miami Beach’s New World Center is a concert hall with a 2 1⁄2-acre adjacent park. The park hosts free screenings of movies and also livestreams symphony concerts for free for the parkgoers. Movies run on Wednesday and Thursday from October to May.

THE PEREZ ART MUSEUM MIAMI

The contemporary art museum was founded in 1984 that showcases Miami’s diverse community by exhibiting international art from the 20th and 21st centuries. You can also check out its restaurant, Verde, with waterfront terrace, or stop for a drink at the bar. Once you’re ready for some fresh air, the patio offers striking views of the ocean and Miami Beach. The museum is free on the second Saturday of every month.

THE BASS MUSEUM

The museum features contemporary art from around the world, including pieces that showcase modern design, fashion and architecture. The Bass is also involved in art programs at schools around MiamiDade. It’s in Miami Beach and free on the last Sunday of every month.

BAKEHOUSE ART COMPLEX

One of the oldest incubators of Miami’s arts scene, the Bakehouse Art Complex, is open to the public with free admission.

The building was a bakery from 1926 until 1977; it changed hands and was remodeled in 1985, transforming it to a hub for artists. The building hosts studios and residencies for more than 100 artists. Inside, wander around the halls to see the galleries or get a guided tour. If you’re lucky, you might catch some artists collaborating in one of their art stations.

ART DECO IN MIAMI BEACH

Visitors and locals can learn more about the architecture style that’s practically synonymous with Miami Beach. The Miami Design Preservation League runs an Art Deco Welcome Center in the heart of Ocean Drive, as well as an Art Deco Museum with free admission for Miami-Dade County residents, students and members of the military. There is a $5 admission fee for non-residents.

THE WOLFSONIAN

The Wolfsonian in Miami Beach, which has a partnership with Florida International University, is free for all of summer 2022. The catch is only the ground floor is open to the public this summer, while the museum works on renovations and new installations in the other areas. Once the Wolfsonian completely reopens in October, general admission will cost $12, but will remain free for Florida residents.
