10 ways to make your skin look better in the new year, Miami dermatologist says
You do not have to spend a lot of money to get glowing, flawless-looking skin and keep it all year long. Using the right skincare regimen and following these New Year’s resolutions for your skin is a cheaper, safer and more effective way to achieve your skincare goals.
1. FIND OUT YOUR SKIN TYPE
Before revamping your skincare regimen this New Year, you need to know your skin type so that you can choose products that will target your skin’s unique barriers to skin health and avoid products that will worsen any existing conditions like dryness, redness or dark spots.
2. USE A RETINOID
Almost every skin type can benefit from using a retinoid. However, you need to gradually introduce your skin to a retinoid when you first start using one, and your retinoid regimen should be customized based on your skin type.
3. USE SPF 15 ON YOUR FACE EVERY DAY
Protect your skin from sun damage by applying sunscreen every morning. You can use a tinted SPF instead of makeup if you prefer a natural look. Men can use tinted sunscreen, too!
4. CONSIDER A NEW ANTI-AGING CREAM

Stress is another leading cause of premature aging. Meditate, do yoga, read a book or do something calming at least once per day to help reduce stress.
10. GET ENOUGH SLEEP
Getting at least seven hours of good-quality sleep is vital to your overall health and the health and appearance of your skin.
All of these skincare resolutions can help to prevent and even reverse skin aging — and most are inexpensive and easy to implement into your daily routine.
Remember, consistency matters, though. Once you start on a new skincare regimen, use it every day. It may take eight to 12 weeks to see results, but your skin will continue to improve over time.
