Introducing temporary tattoos, AI bird feeders
The 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was once again a highlight to see new innovative gadgets, some that will make it into your homes and some that won’t but were still fun to see. With countless companies and products in the city earlier this month, it’s impossible to say what was the best, but here are a few that caught my attention.
TEMPORARY TATTOOS
Prinker, the world’s first digital temporary tattoo device, was busy rolling on temporary tattoos.
In seconds, the handheld portable digital device creates and then applies water-resistant but soapwashable custom temporary tattoos in full color with cosmetic ink.
The Prinker system comprises three main components: the compact device, a content platform where various designs are provided through iOS and Android, and the cosmetic materials, which are FDAregistered cosmetic inks and skin primers.
The process is quick and easy. After you pick the to-be-tattooed design and load it into the Prinker device, have your skin clean, primed and ready to go. Then you roll the Prinker onto the area, and the design is printed in seconds.

SMART BIRD FEEDER
The Bird Buddy announced their second smart feeder, the artificial intelligence-powered smart hummingbird feeder.
The feeder uses AI to capture photos and videos of 350 different hummingbird species with wing speeds of up to 60 mph. The motion sensor triggers the camera in front of the birdhouse to take photos of the bird, then runs those images through its algorithm to identify the species, notifying the user through the Bird Buddy app.
The feeder is expected out late this year and is built with recyclable and sustainable materials using a modern yet approachable design and can be configured with several different add-on accessories, including a solar roof to power the camera. The feeder has the same rechargeable camera module, motion sensor detection and AIfueled species recognition as the original model.
Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.

HEALTH SMART RINGS
Circular health smart rings are an exciting entry into the personal health revolution to record specific health aspects while awake or sleeping. The initial rechargeable ring is expected to be available in February.
It has health monitor features built in to track breathing and personal health and sends wellness recommendations through an app with data recorded. The circular ring analyzes and gives reports on features including heart rate, energy, breathing rate and blood oxygen level.
Circular states the ring will quantify your physical activities and improve your recovery with empowering metrics. Visualize your trends and progress and benefit from personalized advice to energize your life and improve your daily performance over the long term.
Representatives from the company compared wearing the ring to a device like a Fitbit. The ring needs a 45-minute charge and lasts up to four days. The Circular ring even wakes you up with a silent vibration to a set time with the smart alarm.
The ring will be available in four exterior shell colors: silver, black, rose gold and gold, for $284. When ordering, have your ring size ready or purchase a ring sizing kit.

INLINE ELECTRIC SKATES
One product I so badly wanted to try out, but I thought better of it, was the AtmosGear inline electric skates, which take you up to 20 mph.
The battery-operated skates, which look like traditional rollerblades, except for the built-in battery and cable connected to a waist pack, were a big hit at the show. They launched late last year and are good for 20 miles on a single one-hour charge. Recharging can even be done while the skates are in use.
The waist pack has a waterproof case holding the battery and the controller. And two detachable cables connect the bag to each roller for power.
The AtmosGear calls the skates the world’s first electric skates invented for daily commutes. They worked with world-class athletes and over 2,000 skaters to create electric skates for $500. The AtmosGear technology is French-made, and they have two world patents.
