High-speed Laifen hair dryer lives up to ‘Swift’ name

- BY GREGG ELLMAN www.laifentech.com

The Laifen Swift SE high-speed hairdryer lives up to the “swift” in its name. The handheld dryer features 1400 watts with a 105,000 RPM brushless motor to dry hair at least twice the speed of most other dryers.

Without knowing much about the mechanics of hair drying, and not having a personal need for one, I had my wife run the testing on this one; she has significantly more hair to dry than I do. She came away more impressed than she has been with most other products I’ve put her to task with over the years.

She is the perfect candidate to try it and instantly stated she felt her long hair was drying quicker than with a traditional dryer. We didn’t do an actual timing, but it was compared to an older, conventional hair dryer. When I questioned how it compares to her other more expensive hair dryer from last Christmas, which set me back more than $300, she felt the Laifen Swift performed just as well, for half the price.

It uses strong airflow to dry hair rather than using excessive heat. According to Laifen, it has thermo control, alternating between hot and cold airstreams. It monitors the air temperature 50 times per second to prevent hair damage caused by extreme temperatures.

My tester loved that it has a circular LED ring on the back of the dryer that displays three colors that correspond to different temperature settings: red for 80 degrees (hot air), yellow for 50 degrees (warm air) and blue for cold air. Switching between the temperatures is done with the press of a button. If you press and hold the button for two seconds, you can activate the circulating mode, which alternates between hot and cold air every few seconds to protect the hair and scalp from excessive heat damage.

The dryer uses 200 million negative ions to promote silky, frizz-free hair. Laifen says, “By utilizing ionic technology, this dryer repels water, locks in moisture, and imparts a healthy, natural shine to bid farewell to frizz and welcome sleek, smooth hair with no heat damage from use.”

The portable and lightweight (0.89-pound) highspeed hairdryer has an ergonomic design and a quiet motor (59 dB), considering how much power it puts out. It comes with a
