Q. The other night while I was watching the Oscars. It occurred to me if all these people can afford the best plastic surgeons why do so many people look terrible? Maybe PLASTIC SURGERY isn’t for me.

A. While it looks terrible when you see all these people who can afford plastic surgery look scary, the ones you don’t notice are the ones who look great. They look natural, more youthful.

The Oscars, an event synonymous with glamour and the pinnacle of cinematic achievement, indirectly casts a shadow over plastic surgery. When celebrities, under the pressure to adhere to an idealized version of beauty, resort to plastic surgery and appear on the Oscars’ red carpet, the results can sometimes veer toward the extreme. This can portray cosmetic surgery in a negative light when outcomes are perceived as unnatural or overdone.

The Oscars, watched by millions, inadvertently set a standard for beauty that can lead to unrealistic expectations. When actors appear with significantly altered looks, it reinforces the narrative that aging is a flaw that needs correction, rather than a natural process to be embraced.

Moreover, the focus on “disfigured” appearances detracts from the artistry and skill involved in plastic surgery. The field, when practiced responsibly, can offer reconstructive benefits and subtle enhancements that contribute positively to an individual’s self-esteem.

Finding a board-certified facial plastic surgeon, plastic surgeon, or oculoplastic surgeon with a stellar reputation is imperative. If there is no surgical enhancement, then work with a well-qualified dermatologist, or a injector.

Finally, look at before and after pictures of previous clients, observe patients who come and go into the office and ask questions of the providers to help you understand whether the physician is a good fit for your aesthetic needs.
