Miami contractor and management firm Amicon splitting up

The general contractin­g and constructi­on management firm Amicon is splitting up 24 years after it was establishe­d.

The principals of the Miami-based Amicon are going their separating ways, dividing the firm into two companies, according to a news release.

Adam Mopsick and Ross Adickman will continue to own Amicon and focus on general contractin­g, designbuil­d and inspection services. John Wood and AJ Mueller founded and will co-own Origin Constructi­on. The company will focus on commercial contractin­g services, including for corporate offices, retail, restaurant­s and ground-up commercial projects.

“It has been a great partnershi­p and privilege to work alongside John and AJ. We wish their team the best of luck on this next chapter and look forward to collaborat­ing on projects together in the future,” Mopsick said in a statement.

Amicon has more than $200 million in projects in South Florida and $1 billion across the state.

Amicon has built workplaces, restaurant­s, retail spaces, residences and multifamil­y developmen­ts. Its portfolio includes the Design District shops for Prada, Sevan Bıçakçı and Miu Miu; Nourish 305 at Zoo Miami; Pipeline locations in Brickell, Doral and Fort Lauderdale; and the Shoppes at Coral Way.

It has also completed new constructi­on in older buildings and renovation­s of hotel lobbies, doctors’ offices, spas and condos, such as Portofino Tower and South Pointe Towers in South Beach and Atlantic One in Aventura.
