Originally created for a streaming service, this four-part 2016 miniseries (airing nightly through Thursday) picks up life among some of the beloved characters from the 2000-07 TV characters as they go through the course of a year. Tonight’s opener is “Winter,” which sees Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) giddy over having an article in the New Yorker. She returns to Stars Hollow to ponder her next steps. Meanwhile, mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) seeks a new chef for her inn and grandmothe­r Emily (Kelly

Bishop) mourns the loss of her husband.

8 PM( FX) Black Narcissus Based on the same Rumer Godden novel that also inspired a successful 1947 feature starring Deborah Kerr, this new British limited series adaptation, airing tonight in its entirety, stars Gemma Arterton in the Kerr role of Sister Clodagh, an ambitious young nun heading a mission in the remote Himalayas. The location, a hilltop palace with a tragic history once known as the “House of Women,” proves a daunting spiritual home for the nuns, as illness and isolation take their toll. Alessandro Nivola, Diana Rigg, Gina McKee and Jim Broadbent co-star.

8 PM( HALL) MOVIE Heart of the Holidays As a child, Sam (Vanessa Lengies) dreamed of growing up and making the world a better place. Now, however, she’s living in New York and working as a powerful Wall Street stockbroke­r, a job that has led to a huge shift in her personal priorities. A misunderst­anding prompts Sam to return to her rustic hometown to spend the holidays with her family. While there, she reconnects with her high school sweetheart (Corey Sevier) who helps her rediscover what’s truly important. René Escobar, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Jayne Eastwood co-star. 8 PM( VH1) I Love New York: Reunited Reality TV icon Tiffany “New York” Pollard returns to the small screen and looks back on the time she spent searching for love on her hit show “I Love New York” in this new one-hour special. Pollard and some of her amorous flings revisit several of the show’s greatest moments, rehash the biggest heartbreak­s and share how the lives of the various cast members have changed over the years.
