Harmful flaw in DeSantis’ vaccine distribution approach

- – Kent Post, Kendall

Many proud Floridians grew up in an age of great moral lessons taught to us by our parents, teachers and, yes, even politicians.

President John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” Our elders taught us that no matter how smart we are, there is always someone smarter.

It is obvious that our governor either never learned these lessons or chooses to ignore them. Gov. DeSantis thinks he is smarter than scientists, physicians, and teachers. His arrogance, stupidity, or a combination of both, continues to put us in harms way. His latest actions in coordinating the distribution and administration of the COVID-19 vaccine is just another example of his life-threatening character flaws.

There should be a task force made up of true experts — representing all those who are on the front lines — to take over the vaccine efforts. First responders wear many uniforms and know the challenges. But our all-knowing governor, once again, seems clueless.

Who is being shut out of vaccinations while risking their lives to help some of the most vulnerable?

Here is a start: Dentists and their staffs, safety inspectors, investigators, both riminal and civil.

As a video producer, I am on the front lines, documenting catastrophically injured victims. Without my documentation, these people will be short-changed by DeSantis’ cronies in the insurance industry. A private investigator uncovering facts of a wrongful arrest needs to perform the job before all evidence is lost and an innocent person is sent to prison.

DeSantis is more than a disappointment; he is extremely dangerous to me and to all the others whom he fails to represent.

NO MIDDLE GROUND

So Democrats want $2,000 per person in stimulus payments, Republicans want payments limited to $600, and both sides have dug in.

Did anyone propose $1,000 or $1,200 payouts?

Oh, what was I thinking — that would require the use of the nearly extinct ability for the parties to compromise.
