4,791 new virus cases in Fla.

Florida’s Department of Health on Tuesday announced 4,791 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. The state also announced 102 new deaths. Of those who died, 101 were residents. The state has recorded a known total of 1,984,425 coronaviru­s cases and 33,061 total deaths. Among those who died, 32,449 were residents and 612 were nonresiden­ts.

On Tuesday, the state reported the results of 96,878 residents tested on Monday. The state’s percent positivity for first-time testers decreased from 6.10% to 5.95%.

More than 2.4 million Floridians have completed the two-dose series of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna or have completed Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine, according to Monday’s vaccine report. So far, 110,532 people have received Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine and 2,321,008 have completed the twodose series of either Pfizer or Moderna.

Miami-Dade reported 1,273 new cases and 19 deaths, putting its pandemic totals at 428,8733 cases and 5,688 deaths. In MiamiDade, 274,238 people were given the first dose of Pfizer or Moderna, 245,604 completed the two-dose series, and 19,891 received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Percent positivity increased from 5.83% to 5.92%.

Broward added 623 cases and nine deaths, moving its totals to 204,870 cases and 2,558 deaths. In Broward, 175,673 people were given the first dose of Pfizer or Moderna, 199,755 completed the two-dose series, and 9,092 received the J&J vaccine. Percent positivity decreased from 7.13% to 6.39%.

Monroe County added 10 new cases and no new deaths. Pandemic totals in the Keys are 6,139 cases and 47 deaths. In Monroe, 7,843 people were given the first dose of Pfizer or Moderna, 9,288 completed the two-dose series, and 243 received the J&J vaccine. Percent positivity decreased from 6.52% to 6.38%.
