Coral Gables, Florida - Lucille Christopou­lo Kanelidis, born to Greek Immigrants in Charleston, South Carolina on July 18,1928, Lucille was the second oldest of five children. Her mother was a Greek school teacher and her father owned a grocery store. Unusual for the times, Lucille was the first in her family to attend and graduate college at the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor in Science at the age of 19. She then attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was hired as a chemist at a fertilizer company.

After WWII, she met her husband of 48 years, John Kanelidis, another first generation Greek from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvan­ia. After a 3 month engagement, they married in November of 1951 and moved to Savannah,

Georgia and had their first two children, Angelo and Nick. Lucille and John moved to Miami in 1955 where they opened their own Real Estate Company, Kane Realty and sold homes during the post-war boom. In Miami, their third child Joanne was born. Lucille continued to work in Real Estate in Miami as a broker for another 55 years and attended St Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She peacefully died in her home in Coral Gables surrounded by her family on March 19, 2021 at the age of 92.

Lucille was predecease­d by her husband, John; parents Hionia and Nick; siblings Anna, Betty, Flora, Andy and daughter in law, Susan. She is survived by her three children Angelo (Maggie), Nick, Joanne (Clint); four grandchild­ren Nicholas (Allison), John (Monica), Anthony (Jessica), Lucia; one great grandchild Liam and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial will be held on Tuesday, March 23 for family only, with a funeral service held on Wednesday at 12:30pm at Stanfill Funeral Home in Miami. Donations may be sent to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
