Wrist surgery may end Ball’s season

-

Charlotte Hornets starrookie LaMelo Ball had successful surgery in New York City on Tuesday to repair his fractured right wrist.

A statement from the Hornets said Ball’s injury will be re-evaluated in four weeks. The statement did not address whether Ball is out for the rest of the season.

Team personnel have prepared for the possibility that the wrist fracture Ball suffered against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday will end his season.

The No. 3 overall selection in the NBA Draft, Ball was having a strong rookie season averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.59 steals per game in 41 contests. Ball ranks first in assists and steals, second in scoring and is tied for second in rebounds among rookies.

Gordon Hayward scored 27 points and Terry Rozier added 24 as the Hornets beat the host San Antonio Spurs 100-97 on Monday. It was their first game since losing Ball.

Denver had a 24-point advantage early in the second half that was trimmed to five. But the Nuggets held on to win their sixth consecutive road game. It was their ninth straight win against the Magic and the 16th in 18 meetings dating to the 2003-04 season.

Wall had 19 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds for his first triple-double since Feb. 5, 2016.

Houston also handed the Raptors their ninth straight loss, now the NBA’s longest active losing streak.

Bucks 140, Pacers

113: Jrue Holiday had 28 points and 14 assists, and host Milwaukee posted its seventh straight win despite playing without
