Born and raised in Bogotá,

Colombia, Marco was an excellent provider for his family and a self-made entrepreneur. He was a successful businessman and owner of a leather goods store and café in Bogotá. Marco was always in search of a better life for his family. In 1962, he came to the United States to Miami where he learned the bakery trade and fell in love with the art of bread making. After learning the trade and gaining much experience, Marco brought his wife and children to Miami where he decided to raise his family. He worked at several bakeries and perfected his bread baking and pastries. Even when times were tough, he saved up so he could take his wife and children on summer vacations to the Central Florida parks, and he especially loved taking his family to Disney World in Florida. His dream of having his own bakery became a reality, and he opened a successful bakery in Hollywood, Florida named, “Marco’s Bakery.” His motto for the bakery was, For Good Goodies and the Best Rye Bread in Town, Come Visit Us. He took great pride in providing his delicious breads and pastries for his customers and loved the fact that people came from miles around to purchase his baked goods. Marco and his bakery became an icon in South Florida in the 1990s. Marco also owned rental apartments in North Miami

Beach, FL in the 1980s.

Marco loved motorcycles and classic cars and especially his treasured Lincoln Town Car. He loved classical music, and the beautiful violin music of André Rieu. He enjoyed listening to the oldies, but goodies, and always sang along to “I can Help” from Billy Swan.

He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who brought an infinite amount of savviness and wisdom to his family and all who knew him. He really epitomized the saying, “When There’s a Will, There’s a Way.”
