TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

-

7:30 PM (TNT) NBA Basketball It will be a reunion of sorts tonight at Barclays Center, where Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors will be greeted by old friend Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. Since suffering an Achilles tendon tear with the Warriors in the 2019 NBA Finals — an injury that can end careers— Durant has actually thrived in Brooklyn, ranking among the league leaders in scoring and rebounding in the season’s early going.

8 PM The Flash This superhero series returns for Season 8 in epic style, via a five-part special event called “Armageddon,” which brings back several fan-favorite heroes and villains from across the Arrowverse. The story finds Barry, Iris (Grant Gustin, Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash pushed to their limits in a desperate attempt to save Earth from a powerful alien threat. Their fight leads them to enlist the help of some old friends, including The Atom (Brandon Routh), Mia Queen (Kat McNamara), Sentinel (Chyler Leigh) and Ryan Choi (Osric Chau), among others.

9 PM American Veteran This four-part docuseries concludes with “The Reckoning,” which explores the often dramatic differences in how veterans view those who never went into the service. Some of them happily accept a non-veteran’s expression of gratitude for their military service, while others admit they sometimes feel such thank-yous are only “bumper-sticker deep.” Actor, Army veteran and burn survivor J.R. Martinez hosts this finale.

9 PM (OWN) The Big Holiday Food Fight Actress and comic Kym Whitley hosts this festive new cooking competition, in which each episode finds three home cooks ready to break out their favorite holiday family recipes and “jingle bell rock” the kitchen in a multi-stage competition. Their efforts are evaluated by judges Gina Neely, Darnell “SuperChef” Ferguson and James Wright Chanel, and the winning chef walks away with a stocking packed with $5,000.

Challenges are designed to test cooking skills in appetizers, side dishes and desserts.

10 PM VOCES on PBS The new documentary “American Exile” looks at the maddening plight of U.S. veterans who are forced to live under the threat of deportation. While thousands of veterans currently find themselves in that harrowing situation, the issue is examined primarily through the deeply personal story of Valente Valenzuela and his brother Manuel, who volunteered for a tour of duty in Vietnam and came home decorated, but also bearing physical and psychological scars. Half a century later, they were shocked to receive deportation notices.
