Miami, Florida - Miriam “Mimi” Weinfeld, wife, mother, and educator, passed away at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband Albert, of 63 years; her five children: Carol, Jill (married to Geoff Fisher), Roy, Laura, Michael; and her six grandchildren: Stuart and Alec Fisher, Julia, Maya, Noah and Ilana Damski. Mimi and Al met on an arranged date in 1956 and it was love at first site. Al remembers her as “beautiful, well-spoken and kind.” They were engaged in 1957 and married in 1958 at The Essex House on New York’s Central Park South. In 1962, they moved to Miami,

where Al began as a professor of radiology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. They bought a house in High Pines, walking distance to Sunset Elementary School, and continued to enrich their children’s education and community involvement, including at Temple Beth Am and later at Temple Judea Coral Gables. Once the children were grown, Mimi taught ESOL and French at Berlitz in Coral Gables from 1988-2005. All remember her as a calming, wise, caring person, with exquisite taste. She was easily pleased with what she had. She was a connector of neighbors, the Medical Faculty Wives, and her linguistic students. She was always available for everyone. Her children gave her a pillow for her birthday which said “When in Doubt, Ask Mimi.” May her memory be a blessing.
