Tatham, Jones named Male, Female Track Athletes of the Year
Kyvon Tatham, a senior at Pembroke Pines Charter, was named the state’s Class 3A Male Track Athlete of the Year by the Florida Dairy Farmers.
A double champion, he swept the long jump (2310 ¼) and triple jump (48-11) at state.
Alyssa Jones, a senior at Miami Southridge, is the state's Class 3A Female Track Athlete of the Year.
Jones completed her high school career by becoming the sixth athlete in state history to win four championships in the same year. She won her third straight high jump title, repeated in both the 100 meters and long jump and added the 200-meter title to finish with eight individual titles in her career. She has signed with Stanford University.
Alex Armenteros of St. Thomas Aquinas is the state's Class 3A Boys’ Coach of the Year. He led the Raiders to their first state title since 2014 by edging 2021 champion Dillard, 62-61, winning the closing 1,600-meter relay to secure the team championship.
Carmen Jackson of Miami Northwestern is the state’s Class 3A Girls’ Coach of the Year. She led her team to its 13th consecutive state title and
18th title overall with a repeat win over runner-up
Southridge (94-76). The championship extended the state record for most consecutive titles.
In Class 4A, Jassani Carter, a senior at Flanagan, was recognized as the state’s Female Track Athlete of the Year.
She repeated as the 100-meter (11.59) and 200-meter (23.43) state champion, becoming the first Broward County athlete to win back-to-back titles in the two events since Olympic champion Sanya Richards accomplished that feat in 19992000. Carter has signed with the University of Southern California.
The award winners in their respective classification are now eligible for overall state honors, which will be determined soon.
The Florida Dairy Farmers Sports Awards program exemplifies Florida Dairy Farmers’ commitment to the state’s youth. This is the 30th year of these unique awards as it honors the state’s top athletes and coaches in all 32 FHSAA-sanctioned sports.

Sarah Phipps of Monarch won the 2022 BCAA Softball Homerun Derby at Cooper City High School.
