Miami, Florida - Cynthia (Cindy) Lawrence Tidwell – passed away June 23, 2022

Our world is shining less brightly today with the loss of Cindy’s loving, kind and generous glow.

She began her journey on April 3, 1950, in South Orange, NJ. Welcomed into the loving arms of Vinnie and Joan Lawrence. After an early childhood spent on the Jersey Shore she moved to Miami with her mother and two sisters but returned most summers to make wonderful memories of sailing and boating on the Navesink river and swimming in the ocean.

Cindy graduated from the University of South Florida in 1972. During her college years she met the Miami man who would become her husband in 1974. And Darrell admits he was smitten at first glance and remained so through more than 50 years together. Darrell was her rock, heart and soul. They made their lifelong home in South Miami basking in the warmth of many, many friends and relatives.

Although she had visited only five states when she got married, she quickly learned her love of travel over the next decades visiting most of the states, much of the Caribbean and many countries in Europe. She also enjoyed visiting their homes in Punta Gorda, FL and Melbourne Beach, FL.

Her true love was crafting. She loved working with all kinds of crafting from cross stitching to pottery, to stamping, to painting and book making.

She developed a set of friends from all over the country who had similar interest and they would get together to do crafts or go to crafting conventions.

Throughout her whole life Cindy was eager to help make a difference – she volunteered at hospitals helping the sick, at schools providing aid to the teachers, and she belonged to organizations to help the disadvantaged and collected food for food banks.

Cindy was the best of us. She was always there for others. She left this world a better place than when she entered it. Remember Cindy the next time you have the opportunity to help another.

There will be a memorial service at Plymouth Congregational Church, Coconut Grove, Sunday, July 3, 2022, 11:30 a.m. Reception following the service at the church, Davis Hall.

Survived by her husband Darrell, sisters Kathy Lawrence of Boca Raton, FL and Maine and Shelley (Michele) Lawrence Moreland of Sanford, FL and nephew Spenser L. Moreland of Albuquerque, NM
