Miami, Florida - On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Vann Ashley Wilder, Sr., loving father, wonderful husband and overall beautiful human passed away with his family by his side.

Vann was born in 1944 in Washington DC to Joseph Fletcher Wilder and Pauline Glover. He spent his early years in Arlington Virginia with his parents, sister Jane and brother Joey.

Vann received his degree in political science from Wake Forest University and moved to Miami in 1966 where he fell in love with its beautiful beaches and boating. This prompted Vann to become a member of The Coral Reef Yacht Club where he enjoyed spending time with his family for many years. Miami also inspired Vann to change his career path; he became a Financial Advisor in 1969 and dedicated himself to taking great care of his clients throughout his successful career.

Vann married Maria Garcia Wilder and together they formed what they loved to refer to as the “Miami Brady Bunch” which consisted of his now four sons Scott, Johnny, Ray and Vann Jr. They managed to raise their four sons together with love, laughter and patience, mostly keeping their sense of humor.

One of Vann’s greatest loves was jazz music. There was never a day when the Wilder Casa was not filled with the tunes of smooth jazz.

Vann, María and their boys enjoyed the unconditional love of their sweet Sabrina, a miniature schnauzer, who remained with them until her passing at age 16. Vann and Maria adopted two English Cocker Spaniels who have brought much love and joy to the Wilder Casa and remained by his side until his passing.

Vann is survived by his wife Maria, his sons Scott, Ray, Johnny and Vann Jr and his much-loved puppies, Winnie and Missy.

A private celebration of his life will be held in July at the Coral Reef Yacht Club
